Annelise at The Fabric Store HQ has sewn these up in size C and she found that the fit was great! Our denim was 145cm wide and we ended up using slightly less than the 2m recommended because she took approximately 13cm off from the hem to match her height. The pattern instructions are very well illustrated and easy to follow, however, it’s good to note that this pattern does require intermediate to advanced skill level as you will need to sew in a zip fly and pockets.
Peppermint recommends that these Wide Leg Pants would work best in a medium to heavy weight fabric with no stretch. We chose to make ours up in our mid-weight 100% cotton Sky Blue Denim and love how this crisp fabric lends the pant a fresh, structured silhouette. This style would also work beautifully in a plain or striped linen, a cotton twill or perhaps a playful corduroy print!
Check out our suggestions featured above: Heavyweight Linen in Cream, Cotton Drill – Smoky Teal, Liberty of London Kingly Corduroy in Mary Jane A, Lightweight Cotton/Linen Striped Denim, Lightweight Cotton/Silk Denim in Black.
Hot Tip | If you do decide to use a heavier weight fabric for these pants, we’d suggest trying a lighter weight fabric for the pocketing. We decided to use one of our Liberty Saville Poplins, which pairs perfectly with the Sky Blue Denim and gives these pants an extra special hidden detail. We stock a huge range of Liberty cotton prints in-store and online so you will be sure to find something you love. Have a look at the online store’s range here.
How cool do these pants look?! After seeing Annelise’s pair, we can’t wait to make our own! We’ll be pairing ours with a chunky sweater or a merino turtleneck for winter and a casual tee and sandal combo for summer.
