Carousel Dress | Pattern Review

Sewing for the little ones in our lives is so rewarding and it’s those special pieces that often end up as childhood keepsakes. One of our staff members Grace made this gorgeous little number for her nieces 4th birthday… so cute! We were lucky enough to snap a couple of pictures before it was gifted so that we could share our thoughts on the pattern with you.  Pattern | The Carousel Dress by Oliver + S

The Carousel dress has super easy to follow instructions and is a very well thought out pattern. The simple raglan sleeve dress features some fun panel piecing and topstitching, but you won’t need to worry about any fancy buttonholes or set-in sleeves if you’re a beginner. The pattern also offers two super cute variations and with sizes from 6 months up to 12 years so it’s definitely a good one to keep in the stash as little ones grow!  the dress is a firm favourite. This isn’t our first time sewing a pattern by Oliver & S… we used their FREE bucket hat pattern to make a couple of reversible bucket hats with Liberty and Linen.  Matching hat & dress set anyone?Fabric | Linen – Denim Blue & Liberty Tana Lawn – Leo Scarlet & Liberty Bias Binding – Leo Scarlet
Grace sewed this dress up in some of our Denim Blue linen, a recent addition to our Exclusive Linen Collection. She teamed it up with a little bit of Liberty Tana Lawn for a pop of floral which we think is the perfect pairing. We absolutely love how this dress turned out! Using linen has added structure to the shape of the dress while keeping it soft and feminine with the Liberty floral contrasting. The pattern sizing was spot on and the finished garment looks really professional… nice work Grace! Even though this dress quickly ended up covered in party food, it is already a firm favourite.
