Looking for a new blouse to add to your handmade wardrobe? Look no further! The Aster blouse by Colette Patterns is just like a classic button-up shirt, without the collar and with a couple of variations, one just might not be enough!Pattern | Aster by Colette Patterns
While browsing around for new patterns we came across the Aster and fell in love with the shape! This pattern was actually released back in 2015 but it just goes to show that the design, style and fit are super timeless. The pattern has a bunch of different variations including ones with long and short sleeves which makes it a versatile piece to keep in your pattern stash. We decided to make up a long sleeved version with the stitched down pleated bodice and we love the rounded hem and box pleat detail on the back.
The pattern instructions were really easy to follow and as the pattern suggests it is for sewists with intermediate sewing skills which we definitely agree with! We found the pleated bodice details a little bit fiddly but the end result is perfect so just take your time and you will love the result.Fabric | Vintage Brick Linen
Our first choice for this pattern was linen and of course, we selected one of our new colours from our exclusive linen collection… Vintage Brick! We knew that it would be a wonderful pairing for denim and to show off the Asters shape and after a little bit of wear, it would soften and relax beautifully. Another great fabric option in the cooler months for the Aster would be a Liberty Lantana which is a soft cotton wool blend – snuggly!
Featured fabric suggestions: Chambray Linen Indigo, Liberty Lantana & Linen Vintage Brick. The results really speak for themselves – this will definitely be a wardrobe fav all year round! We can even imagine this would look gorgeous lengthened into a knee-length shirt-dress or something a little bit longer with a waist tie. Briar from the HQ team styled up this Aster with blue denim jeans for a casual officewear look and we love it!
